Review: Well this is the second of Steve’s products that I am privileged to have tried. I was luck enough to grab this last Friday.
On opening this Jam I was mildly surprised at the thickness of this. The colour is similar to that of strawberry jam, but the seeds are those chillies.
Once again I tasted it plain, so I could get a true idea of the Jam without having any accompaniment to mask the product. Holy Hell I surprised at the heat level, I was expecting hot, nut this I would have to say is Reaper Hot. Heat wise it was on the high end on the level, with sweet hints. It has a pleasant taste that gives way to the heat of the reapers.
This was then tried on toast which was a joyous way to get the full flavour.
After the heat subsided, I decided for lunch that I would give this another nudge, and had it on crackers with Brie… What a great balance!
Not to be deterred I then tried it as a glaze on Pork St Louis style pork ribs for dinner the next night, as with the name, these weren’t for the kids. The result was outstanding. The sweetness and the heat perfect.
Over all this is a extremely good product, Versatile, and can be used in sweet dishes as well as an accompaniment with savoury ones. I definitely recommend this as a Glaze on Barbecued or roasted meats.
For heat, I would give this Jam a 9.5 out of 10. For flavour, this achieves a score of 9 out of 10.
A great product that I recommend to all those that enjoy flavour with the hit of high end chilli heat, but it’s Not For The Kids, well the little ones at least.
